Golden Tate: “I Would Love To Play With Tom Brady”

Golden Tate will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Appearing on Earl Bennett’s podcast, Tate was asked if he would want to join Tom Brady and the Patriots:

“Man. I would love it. That organization, they’ve proven to be champions year-in and year-out. You know, they work hard for sure,” Tate said. “You got to admire that organization. They do things right and have been doing it for a long, long time. So I would definitely love to be [someone] that catches passes from Tom. Julian [Edelman] is a buddy of mine. I definitely wouldn’t mind going there.”

The Eagles gave up a 3rd-round pick to acquire Tate prior to the trade deadline in October. His time in Philadelphia had some bumpy roads as he struggled to fit in the offense. He put up just 30 catches for 278 yards and a TD in eight games. He added 7 catches for 64 yards in the playoffs and scored the game-winning TD in a Wild Card win over the Bears.

The Eagles are expected to allow Tate to test the open market. Tate is among the top WRs in this year’s below par free agent WR class (full free agent list HERE).

Tate came close to playing with Brady last season. Before the Lions traded Tate to the Eagles, the Patriots also offered a 3rd round pick, but Detroit figured Philly’s pick would be higher.

If Tate walks, the Eagles would be in line to receive a compensatory pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
