Will Washington Take A Look At Antonio Brown?

The Washington football team could use a receiver after Kelvin Harmon suffered a torn ACL during a workout earlier this month

Harmon had 30 catches for 365 yards last season as a rookie and found some late season success with Dwayne Haskins.

With a new offensive staff coming in and Harmon out of the picture, the receivers depth chart in Washington is a bit shaky. Terry McLaurin, Trey Quinn, Cody Latimer, Cam Sims, Steven Sims and rookie Antonio Gandy-Golden are the receivers currently on the roster.

And that’s where Antonio Brown could possibly come in. Brown has worked out with Dwayne Haskins this offseason.

He’s been out of trouble, quiet on social media, and multiple reports have indicated that teams are showing interest.

Washington head coach Ron Rivera was asked about the possibility last week and didn’t shut down the idea:

“For us to bring a veteran guy in a couple of positions, we have to see what we have in terms of our young guys first,” Rivera said. “I made the comment about our left tackle position. We have a group of young guys that we have to find out whether or not they have the ability to be football players. If you bring in a veteran right now, you are going to stunt the growth of someone young.”

“I know who Antonio Brown is. I know he is a great player and an impact guy. He is also a veteran guy and we have some guys that we have to find out about. That is the approach. We want to see what we have. If we were able to go through OTAs and minicamp, we would’ve been able to judge that and say, ‘Hey, we need to get a guy at this position or we need a guy at that position.’ These guys aren’t really coming along how we want them to, let’s pull the trigger and bring a guy into our organization.”

But Brown faces league discipline after pleading no contest to burglary and battery in connection with an altercation with a moving truck driver. The league is also investigating two other incidents involving Brown for potential further discipline.

Brown has also worked out with Russell Wilson and Lamar Jackson this offseason, and the Seahawks and Ravens have been linked to Brown over the last few weeks.

While nothing is imminent, Brown’s status for the upcoming season is another storyline to watch closely.
