Washington-Cowboys Thanksgiving Game Was Most Watched Game Of 2020 Season

A game that featured two teams with a 3-7 record is now the most watched game of the 2020 season.

According to FOX Sports, the Washington Football Team vs. Dallas Cowboys game on Thanksgiving day averaged 30.3 million viewers, making it the most-watched NFL telecast of the 2020 season.

The game is also the single most-watched television broadcast since February’s Super Bowl LIV between the Chiefs and 49ers.

The NFL’s television audience for its annual Thanksgiving slate usually draws lots of eyeballs, regardless of matchup.

The Bills-Cowboys Thanksgiving game last year had slightly more viewers with 32.6 million.

The streaming numbers for Washington-Dallas — 562,623 viewers on an average-minute basis — were also the most ever for any Thanksgiving telecast on FOX.

The game was a blowout as Washington defeated Dallas 41-16.

Meanwhile, the CBS Thanksgiving matchup between the Houston Texans and Detroit Lions garnered 23.389 million viewers.

The night game for Thanksgiving was supposed to feature the Ravens against the undefeated Steelers but that game has been pushed to Wednesday afternoon after Baltimore had a COVID outbreak.
