Derek Carr: Raiders Locker Room Would Welcome Antonio Brown With “Arms Wide Open”

The Raiders have been rumored as one of a few teams interested in trading for Steelers WR Antonio Brown. It makes sense. Oakland is set to have 3 first-round picks and 5 picks in the top-70.

Raiders QB Derek Carr has had trade rumors surrounding him over the last few days but Raiders GM Mike Mayock and HC Jon Gruden have both said Carr is the “franchise QB.”

Carr spoke at a fundraiser for Valley Children’s Hospital on Saturday and talked about AB.

“I would imagine he’s definitely in play,” Carr said via The Fresno Bee. “I hope he’s in play. It would be great to add a guy like that to your team, talent like that. I don’t know what it’s going to cost. The contract stuff starts getting in the way and they got to figure out numbers and all that kind of stuff. I don’t really like the business side of football. but I just like adding good players to our football team. If it works out in the business side, I know the locker room will be arms wide open to accepting Antonio.”

The Raiders have done business with the Steelers previously when it comes to WRs. Last offseason they traded a 3rd-round pick to Pittsburgh for WR Martavis Bryant. A few months later, the Raiders traded WR Ryan Switzer to Pittsburgh.

A number of reports have come out over the last few days that the Raiders have had talks with Pittsburgh about a potential trade. The Titans and Redskins have also been brought up as potential suitors.

Carr also spoke about HC Jon Gruden:

“I love that man so much. How much he pushes me. He’s going to challenge you to be the best you can. We both want to win. We both work our tails off. We’re both ultra super competitive and we both love the Raiders, more than anybody else. I talk to Coach Gruden more. He tells me he loves me, literally 18 times when I’m on the phone with him.”

The Raiders are projected to have north of $70M in cap space this offseason. They currently own picks 4, 24, 27, 35, 66, 107, 142, 198, 220 and 237
