The Cowboys roster is loaded with talent on offense and defense but most would agree that safety is their weakest position.
Former Chiefs safety Eric Berry is still a free agent. He took a visit with Dallas in March but left without a deal.
Cowboys VP of Player Personnel Will McClay told 1310 The Ticket that the team continues to “monitor” Berry but they feel good with the current situation they’re in.
“We really believe in Xavier Woods and Jeff Heath and the depth that we have,” McClay said.
Dallas is currently set to have Heath and Woods as their strong and free safeties, respectively. They signed veteran George Illoka in free agency and drafted Texas A&M’s Donovan Wilson in the sixth-round.
Berry has played in just three regular season games over the last two seasons because of a torn Achilles and a heel injury. He spent the first nine seasons of his career in Kansas City, making five Pro Bowls and was voted All-Pro three times.
