The Giants traded Odell Beckham Jr. to Cleveland got safety Jabrill Peppers back as part of the return .
Peppers is prepared to start at safety in 2019 and is in play to be the teams punt returner.
He also thinks he can play some offense.
“Guys might not have gotten chance, and guys might not want to because now it’s about making your career last as long as possible so you reap the fruits of your labor,” Peppers said, via NJ.com.
“I definitely think there are guys that can do it. But will they do it? Will they want to do it? Will the team make them do it? Especially if they are key guys. It’s all up in the air. It depends on a lot — the type of system and type of franchise. I’d be open to doing it.”
The Giants WR corps is depleted with Corey Coleman out for the season (torn ACL), Golden Tate is facing a four-game suspension and Sterling Shepard is dealing with a broken thumb.
The Browns used the No. 25 overall selection on Peppers and at the time HC Hue Jackson said he would use Peppers on offense.
“Obviously, he’s going to play defense for us, but we’ll find a role for him over there on offense.,” Jackson said. “No question… Again, when you have guys that have ability to make plays, you do anything and everything you can to put them in an environment so they can showcase their talent and ability.”
Peppers had 45 carries and 10 catches in his last two years at Michigan, but the majority of his snaps came on defense.
