Report: Zach Ertz Bracing For A Change Of Scenery Via Trade Or Release

Zach Ertz admitted at the end of the season that he doesn’t know what the future holds. It sounds like he has an idea now.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Ertz is “bracing for a change of scenery via trade or release,” perhaps even as part of a package deal involving Wentz.

Ertz suffered through an injury-plagued 2020 season. He caught just 36 passes for a career-low 335 yards with one touchdown in 11 games.

There was talk that he was looking for a contract extension with the Eagles before the start of last season, but the two sides reached an impasse that kept talks from moving forward.

Ertz’s name came up before the NFL trade deadline in October, but a high-ankle sprain, which sidelined him for more than a month, prevented the team from making a deal.

The three-time Pro Bowler is entering the final year of his deal and is due an $8.25M base salary next season.

The Eagles drafted Ertz with their second-round pick in 2013. He’s recorded 561 receptions for 6,078 yards with 36 touchdowns in his career.
