CBS Rejects Proposed Super Bowl That Calls For Legalization Of Medical Marijuana

CBS rejected a Super Bowl ad that makes a case for medical marijuana.

The cannabis company Acreage Holdings told Bloomberg.com that CBS has rejected a Super Bowl ad calling for the legalization of medical marijuana. The company says they were rejected after giving CBS an outline of what it wanted to say in the commercial.

The advertisement aimed to “create an advocacy campaign for constituents who are being lost in the dialogue,” Acreage President George Allen said. Super Bowl airtime would have been the best way to achieve this, he said.

“It’s hard to compete with the amount of attention something gets when it airs during the Super Bowl,” Allen added.

Companies often view Super Bowl commercials as the best way to reach close to 100 million people. CBS had no comment upon request.
