Brett Favre: Packers Should Use Jordan Love In Role Similar To Taysom Hill

Packers Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre thinks Matt LaFleur should consider using first-round pick Jordan Love the way the Saints have used Taysom Hill.

“I think there’s ways to incorporate it much like Taysom Hill with the Saints,” Favre told TMZ. “Use him as a halfback, a halfback pass, but occasionally let him run it just to show that you’ll do that. Something like that.”

The Packers probably didn’t use a first-round pick on Jordan Love for him to be a gadget-player, but it’s definitely an interesting idea to get him on the field during his rookie season.

Green Bay traded up to select Love with the 26th overall pick in April’s draft.

In three seasons as Utah State, Love rushed for just 403 yards.

With Aaron Rodgers still in town, Favre encourages Love to just work hard and be patient.

“Soak it all in and get better,” said Favre on the advice he’d give to Love. “So when your time comes [you’re ready] … and that’s what happened with Aaron [Rodgers]. I know he wanted to play right away but when he got there, he got to sit. We got along great despite what most people think. We sat in meetings –just the two of us– and he asked questions and I gave him whatever answer I felt was the right answer.”
