Washington Makes Two Front Office Moves

The Redskins expected name change has been getting most of the attention as of late, but there’s also other things going on with the team.

According to The Athletic, the team has fired Director of Player Personnel Alex Santos and assistant director Richard Mann II.

Santos, who has been with the organization since 2006, was believed to be let go when Bruce Allen was fired, but he was kept on the staff until now.

Mann was with the organization since 2010, and  served as a pro scout in his first seven seasons with Washington before being elevated to assistant director of pro personnel in 2017.

Moving on from staff members from a previous regime is not shocking. But that usually happens after the draft, not two weeks before training camp.

No reason was given for the firings, and the team declined to comment.

Washington moved on from longtime team President Bruce Allen in late December and parted ways with VP of football operations Eric Schaffer, who spent 17 years with the franchise. Doug Williams was also reassigned from the pro personnel department to player department.
