Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is heading into the final year of his contract.
A little over a month ago a rumor started to float around that Russell Wilson and his wife, Ciara, might try to force their way out of Seattle in order to end up in New York. According to that rumor, Wilson’s wife — Ciara — prefers to live in New York, because Seattle is not an “entertainment Mecca.” At the time, no one took it seriously.
A short while after, Wilson appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and was asked about that very rumor.
“I’m not sure if the Seahawks are gonna let me get away,” Wilson said.
Tyrann Mathieu, who knows Wilson from their days as NFC West rivals, wrote on twitter that “Russ wants New York.”

Wilson has given the Seahawks an April 15 deadline for a new deal.
What happens if there’s no deal in place? Will Russ hold out? Will he play under the final year of his deal? No one really knows.
The Giants hold picks 6 and 17 in the first round of this year’s draft and are in need of a new franchise QB. The Seahawks have a league-low four draft picks this year.
Seattle will eventually also have to pay big money to Bobby Wagner and Frank Clark. Only time will tell what happens with Wilson. It’s a fascinating situation that will only heat up if Seattle and Wilson don’t get a long-term deal done.
