The Latest On Eagles QB Nick Foles

Earlier tonight, the Eagles informed Nick Foles they are exercising the $20M option on his contract. Foles then had the option to void the the option for $2M.

Foles is doing exactly that. According to ESPN, Foles will buy back his freedom for $2M and become a free agent.

However, the Eagles can place the franchise tag on Foles and then try to trade him. The franchise tag for QBs is expected to be roughly $25M. The Eagles will have from February 19 until March 5 to decide if they want to slap the franchise tag.

Adam Schefter of ESPN mentioned on Saturday that the Eagles asking price for Foles is likely a 3rd round pick.

A spot to keep an eye on: Jacksonville. The Jaguars have an additional 3rd round pick from the Dante Fowler Jr. trade with the LA Rams. They also hired former Eagles QBs coach John DeFilippo to be their OC. Trades can’t become official until the new league year opens on March 13.
