Report: Ravens LB Matthew Judon Expected To Draw Trade Interest

In recent years, NFL teams have used the franchise tag on an impending free agent only to then trade that player to another team.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Ravens are considering using the franchise tag on linebacker Matthew Judon and then listen to trade offers.

Judon, who is scheduled to be a free agent, had a career-high 9.5 sacks this past season and was voted to his first Pro Bowl.

Last year, the Chiefs tagged Dee Ford and then traded him to San Francisco. The Seahawks did the same with Frank Clark, sending him to Kansas City, while the Dolphins did it with Jarvis Landry in 2018.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said earlier this month that he wants the team to keep Judon, but acknowledged it would be “very hard.”

Judon, 27, was Baltimore’s 5th round pick in 2016.
