Panthers Exclude Cam Newton When Asking For Franchise’s G.O.A.T.

The greatest quarterback to ever wear a Panthers helmet is still a free agent.

Many people have called out the Panthers for the way the relationship ended, but there’s no debating that Cam is one of the greatest players to ever suit up for the Panthers.

Which is why a recent tweet from the official Panthers team twitter account is getting heat from fans.

The Panthers gave fans three choices to choose for the franchise’s G.O.A.T.

The choices were Julius Peppers, Steve Smith and Luke Kuechly.

No option for Cam Newton.

Peppers, Smith and Kuechly were all great Panthers, but it’s hard to leave out Newton, who spent nine seasons with the teams at the most important position on the field and led them to a Super Bowl.

Newton is the franchise’s all-time leader in passing yards (29,041), passing touchdowns (182), pass attempts (3,980), pass completions (2,371), 300-yard passing games (19), rushing touchdowns (58) and wins by a quarterback (68).

In 2015, he became the first player in franchise history to be selected as NFL MVP and added AP Offensive Player of the Year honors. His wide receivers that year were Ted Ginn, Jericho Cotchery, Devin Funchess (rookie), and Corey Brown.

He was a three-time Pro Bowler (2011, 2013, 2015), and won AP Offensive Rookie of the Year when he established a single-season NFL record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (14) and became the first player in NFL history to pass for 4,000 yards and rush for 500 yards in a single season.

Fans were not happy that Newton was excluded. Here are just some of the many replies:
