The NFL remains king on television despite other sports going on in this odd year.
NBC’s Sunday Night Football matchup between the Eagles and 49ers drew an audience of 11.7 million total viewers last night. The game averaged a 3.5 rating among adults 18-49. The game featured a backup quarterback and both teams were banged up with several key injuries.
Meanwhile, Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers averaged a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 and just over 4 million total viewers for ABC. Game 2 averaged a mere 4.5 million viewers.
Coming into Week 4, the NFL had the 15 highest-rated shows through the first three weeks of the season. Even with some numbers down, CBS, FOX. NBC and ESPN were all benefiting from the NFL’s return.
