Derrick Henry: Dalvin Cook Is The Best Back In The League

When it comes to best receiver in the NFL, all of the great ones proclaim that they are on top.

When it comes to running back, at least one of the great ones is fine with admitting someone else is better than him.

Dalvin Cook’s name was brought up during Derrick Henry weekly press conference and Henry had some high praise for the Vikings star:

“He’s the best back in the league and is having a phenomenal year,” Henry said, via ESPN’s Turron Davenport. “Running the ball, catching the ball; he’s very explosive. Runs hard, runs through tackles, makes guys miss. He’s been balling.”

Henry currently leads the NFL in rushing with 1,079 yards. Cook is right behind him with 1,069 yards, but Cook has missed a game, which means his per-game average is slightly higher. Cook is averaging 118.8 yards per game, while Henry is averaging 107.9 yards per game. No one else in the league is even within 300 yards of Cook or Henry.

Henry was the NFL’s rushing leader in 2019 with 1,540 rushing yards. He then followed that up with a whopping 446 rushing yards in the postseason. The Titans rewarded him with a four-year, $50 million extension this past offseason

The Vikings also rewarded Cook with an extension this past offseason, agreeing to a five-year, $63 million deal.
