AJ Green Wants To Stay In Cincinnati

AJ Green is entering the final year of a four-year extension signed in 2015.

When asked about his contract situation, Green made it clear he likes it in Cincinnati.

“Cincinnati is home for me,” Green said, via FOX19. “I’ve been here nine years. This is home as much as South Carolina. All I know is Cincinnati. I can’t see myself playing anywhere else or playing in a different city. Hopefully I can be here for a couple more years.”

Green is set to have a base salary of under $12M in 2019, which would put him as the 14th-highest paid WR in football, according to OverTheCap.

He had the worst statistical season of his career in 2018, playing in just nine games and catching a career-low 46 passes for a career-low 694 yards. The Bengals lost all seven games he missed.  He had surgery on his right foot after a season-ending toe injury.

Green has never played for an NFL head coach other than Marvin Lewis. He enters 2019 with Zac Taylor running the show and Green seems excited for the transition.

“He’s young. It looks like the offense is going to be very high flying. We have the talent to be real good. We just have to put everything together…. There’s a different energy in this building.”
