The NFL Draft is around the corner and this is the time of year when it’s tough to know what to believe and what not to.
Every year as the draft nears, rumors and reports emerge as teams try to throw other franchises off their plans.
One thing that has been heating up as of late is that Florida cornerback CJ Henderson will end up going in the top-10.
“I bet 40 percent of the teams in the league have C.J. Henderson higher on their boards than Okudah. Better cover guy,” one GM told Peter King of NBC Sports.
Peter Schrager of NFL Network tweeted that Henderson is “getting far more Top 10 buzz than he was a month ago at the Combine.”
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network quoted that tweet with: “Henderson being mocked by many to come off the board in the mid-teens… That’s too low. He goes higher.”
I asked NFL Draft analyst Jordan Reid about Henderson vs. Okudah on this week’s MySportsUpdate Football Podcast (listen here):
“Okudah clearly has the better upside, but as far as coverage, I think Henderson does have a better case, and that’s not to say Okudah isn’t a great player… But talking to some scouting buddies, the big stigma with Henderson is that he doesn’t want to tackle and that’s something that clouds the true assessment about him.”
Henderson had a career-best 11 pass breakups in nine games this past season at Florida. He missed three games due to injury.
