The Hollywood, Florida police department’s athletic league has returned a donation from Antonio Brown in the aftermath of Monday’s verbal assault on police officers who were present at his home.
“We made the decision to sever ties between Mr. Brown and the Hollywood Police Athletic League,” public information officer Christian Lata said in a statement, via ESPN. “We did not want our youth to be subject to this type of behavior nor emulate the actions of Mr. Brown… We will not take money from a donor that we cannot have our youth be proud of or represent our organization.”
Brown was on Instagram live on Monday when the encounter with police occurred. In the video, Brown can be heard using dirty language and calling the police officers explicit names. The entire incident unfolded in front of his children.
The Hollywood PD says Brown’s behavior was “very rude and disrespectful” and they no longer want to have a relationship with him.
The NFL is still investigating a sexual assault lawsuit and other misconduct involving Brown.
Brown recently had a workout with the New Orleans Saints, which he called a publicity stunt.
