Bill Belichick Has Called A Bunch Of Players Hard Workers

On Monday, Patriots coach Bill Belichick went on SiriusXM and said “nobody works harder” than Cam Newton.

“He’s an extremely hard worker. Nobody works harder than Cam does. He’s here early, he stays late and he works very hard,” Belichick said. “Some players like to work on things they’re good at, like if you’re strong on the bench press you just throw more weight on the bench. But Cam works on things he’s not at good at and tries to improve on a daily basis and that’s something I really respect about him. That’s not easy for players or really any of us to do. We’ll get something we’re not really good at or it’s not our strength and you spend extra time on it when our natural tendency is to do things we’re good at. So he works extremely hard in all areas.”

The clip of that audio went viral. Over 400,000 people have listened to it on Twitter. The official NFL account even made a graphic with the quote. And while Cam Newton has impressed at camp and his teammates have had nothing but good things to say about him, Belichick’s comments about “hardest worker” doesn’t really mean much. Some blogs have written that Bill was taking a shot at Tom Brady. He really wasn’t.

Belichick has said the same thing about at least 10 other players over the last few years. From Tom Brady to Deatrich Wise and Tim Wright.
