Rundown Of What The Dolphins Have Done So Far This Offseason

In 2019, the Dolphins won 5 games with a roster many called “laughable.” There were those who thought first-year head coach Brian Flores should get Coach of the Year votes.

No team has been busier this offseason than the Dolphins and on paper they look like big winners.

First off, Tom Brady is out of the division. That’s the biggest win of them all.

In free agency, they added another shut down corner, a versatile linebacker, two pass-rushers, a starting running back, starting center, starting guard, a core special teamer and more.

  • CB Byron Jones: 5 years, $82.5M
  • LB Kyle Van Noy: 4 years, $51M
  • DE Shaq Lawson: 3 years, $30M
  • G Ereck Flowers: 3 years, $30M
  • RB Jordan Howard: 2 years, $10M
  • DE Emmanuel Ogbah: 2 years, $15M
  • C Ted Karras: 1-year, $4M
  • ST Clayton Fejedelem: 3 years, $8.5M
  • LB Kamu Grugier-Hill: 1-year, $3M
  • FB/LB Elandon Roberts: 1-year, $3M

That’s all great and they still have around $30 million in cap space remaining.

Now on to the draft. The Dolphins are loaded with draft capital and can move up or down the draft board. Take a look at this…

  • They have the most picks with 14.
  • They have the most first-round picks with 3 (No. 5, 18 and 26)
  • They have the most top-100 picks with 6 (all 6 picks are in the top-70)
  • They also have double 1s and double 2s in 2021

All in all, this is how their draft board looks for this year’s draft:

      • Round 1, Pick 5
      • Round 1, Pick 18
      • Round 1, Pick 26
      • Round 2, Pick 39
      • Round 2, Pick 56
      • Round 3, Pick 70
      • Round 4, Pick 141
      • Round 5, Pick 153
      • Round 5, Pick 155
      • Round 5, Pick 174
      • Round 6, Pick 186
      • Round 7, Pick 228
      • Round 7, Pick 247
      • Round 7, Pick 252

And this roster already had some pieces to work with:

  • CB Xavien Howard (Age: 26)
  • WR Devante Parker (Age: 27)
  • TE Mike Gesicki (Age: 24)
  • DT Christian Wilkins (Age: 24)
  • LB Jerome Baker (Age: 23)
  • DT Davon Godchaux (Age: 25)
  • WR Jakeem Grant (Age: 27)
  • CB Bobby McCain (Age: 26)
  • CB Eric Rowe (Age: 27)
  • WR Allen Hurns (Age: 28)
  • DE Andrew Van Ginkel (Age: 24)
  • LB Raekwon McMillan (Age: 24)
  • DE Taco Charlton (Age: 25)

The quarterback position is still a question as they only have Ryan Fitzpatrick, Josh Rosen and Jake Rudock on the roster. But with all that draft capital, the Dolphins are in position to land one of the big names in this year’s draft (hint: Tua Tagovailoa).

With Brian Flores leading the way, Dolphins fans should be very excited for what the future holds.
