Jets, Cardinals And Browns Have Interest In Chuck Pagano As Defensive Coordinator

Update: Add the Bears to the mix. The Chicago Tribune reports Pagano will interview with Chicago on Friday for their DC vacancy.

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that both the Cardinals and Browns are interested in hiring former Colts HC Chuck Pagano as defensive coordinator. The Jets reportedly have also shown interest.

Pagano, 58, didn’t coach last season after being fired by Indianapolis, but he’s received plenty of interest during this year’s coaching cycle. He interviewed for the Packers and Broncos HC openings, and also interviewed with the Panthers for their defensive backs coach opening.

Arizona has made it clear that they’re looking for a veteran DC under new HC Kliff Kingsbury. Pagano also runs a 3-4 defense, the same scheme which GM Steve Keim says he prefers. Arizona interviewed Vance Joseph today.

The Browns also have a first-time head coach in Freddie Kitchens, so his experience is likely key there as well. Cleveland is set to interview former Broncos HC Vance Joseph for their DC position on Friday.
