According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the Oakland Raiders have not “slammed the door” on the idea of trading star-rusher Khalil Mack, and four teams have “seriously” explored the idea of doing a trade.
Last week, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported the Jets are one of the teams that have reached out to the Raiders about a trade. Jets have also been linked to Jaguars DE Dante Fowler Jr.
The report adds that if a deal were to happen involving Mack, it will likely hinge on whether a team can offer the kind of compensation to satisfy Oakland and then pay Mack the kind of big money he’s looking for [which is believed to be approximately $22M/yr]. Mack hasn’t gotten any contract offers from the Raiders since February and he’s had little-to-no conversations with new HC Jon Gruden.
Mack is a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro and has totaled 40.5 sacks over his first four NFL seasons.
Oakland doesn’t seen to be in a rush to get something done and Mack hasn’t shown us any indication that he’ll report. Oakland opens up their season vs the Rams on September 10th on Monday Night Football.
