Champ Bailey got into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. Now that he’s in, he’s open to talking about who deserves to join him in the Hall.
Bailey was interviewed on the Talk of Fame Network and was asked which player not in Canton he would induct if given the chance. Without hesitation Bailey said Edgerrin James.
“I got to go with Edgerrin James,” Bailey said. “The reason being: He’s a Class of ’99 mate of him, and the dude came out ballin,’ Year One. Rookie of the Year. NFL leading rusher. I mean, the dude did it all. And to do it at a high level for as long as he did, the dude should be in already.”
James has been eligible for 5 years and has been a finalist three times.
The Colts drafted him with the fourth overall pick in the 1999 NFL draft. In seven seasons with the Colts, James set the franchise’s career records for rushing attempts (2,188), rushing yards (9,226) and rushing TD (64). He spent the back end of his career with the Cardinals and Seahawks and played his last down in 2009.
